The world’s largest independent mobile advertising platform, InMobi has announced the acquisition of AerServ for $90 million in cash and stock exchange that is bound to enhance monetization for publishers globally and will also enhance the premium mobile programmatic platform called the InMobi exchange. InMobi and AerServ’s combined technology will provide a next generation platform for ad and will provide high quality brand demand marking the industry’s first platform to deliver this combination to publishers worldwide.
Brand advertisers need transparent programmatic platforms of high quality ad inventory which can be verified independently. According to market expectation, by 2019 two thirds of the world’s digital display advertising will be traded programmatically. Ads sold programmatically will increase from $57.5 billion to $84.9 billion over the next two years with a predicted growth of 21 percent a year.
InMobi and AerServ boast over 90 percent view-ability and over 70 percent video completion rate which is more than double the industry benchmark for mobile. While AerServ has integrations with over 75 DSP’s, exchanges and agencies around the world, InMobi has global footprint and their combination can cover a large majority of the Fortune 500 brands around the world.
The exchange scale of InMobi will increase in the U.S as AerServ runs more than 90 billion ad opportunities each month and provides access to brand programmatic demand to over 2000 apps. This investment will lead InMobi’s video and programmatic business to account for 35 percent of the overall company revenue while solidifying InMobi’s leadership position in the mobile video advertising industry.
According to Abhay Singhal, co-founder and Chief Revenue Officer at InMobi:
“This acquisition fits in perfectly with our global strategy to bring best-in-class technology for premium publishers and driving mobile programmatic video revenues to them. Our combined entities will double our headcount in the U.S. while establishing a product and tech hub for InMobi in Los Angeles, a hotspot of innovation for media and video content. We are two profitable companies combining forces in North America and this will further cement our leadership position in video advertising, enabling us to continue investing heavily.”
Josh Speyer, Chief Executive Officer at AerServ also said the following about the acquisition:
“We’re excited to join forces with InMobi and grow the mobile advertising and programmatic industry together. Our decision to embark on this new adventure was made easy by the great partner we have in InMobi, their expertise in the industry and global scale. This will allow us to scale our platforms together across the globe and build a strong business in previously untapped markets such as China and broader APAC.”
