Mexico based Metalsa Structural Products is expanding to produce a new line of stamped and welded components, investing $36.5 million in Owensboro, Kentucky adding 113 new jobs in the process. The $36.5 million investment will be utilized in robotic welding cells, assembly line robots, infrastructure and building expansion to accommodate the new production line and additional warehouse space.
According to Governor Matt Bevin, Metalsa is one of Kentucky’s largest automotive employers which currently employ about 2,700 people in three vehicle frame facilities in Owensboro, Hopkinsville and Elizabethtown. Metalsa will hire its employees within September 2018 to June 2019 and the expansion which began this summer (2017) is expected to begin production in March 2019.
