Dubai, UAE based Abraaj Group has acquired a significant minority stake in Turkey’s largest logistic company, Netlog Lojistik Hizmetleri, a company that operates in both Europe and Asia. Netlog offers a complete supply chain solution by maintaining 65 warehouses with a combined area of more than 1.1 million square meters and owning a fleet of 3200 transport vehicles.
Founded in 2003 by Sahap and Gokalp Cak, the founders have extensive domestic and international supply chain management experience while they still maintain majority stake in the company and will oversee management as well. Netlog services include warehousing, domestic and international trucking and air and sea forwarding. It works in diversified sector such as food and beverage, retail and fashion and fast moving consumer goods (FMCG).
Netlog customer proposition is also strengthened by its value added services through its subsidiaries such as PolarXP and Bleckmann. PolarXP is the pioneer and largest player in temperature controlled logistic management in Turkey and Bleckmann offers e-commerce logistics services for the fashion industry globally in countries such as Belgium, Netherlands, UK and the USA.
Logistics sector in Turkey is a compelling investment not only due to its strategic location but also because of Turkish Government’s long term strategic development and the role of logistic sector in the country’s development. By 2023 the Turkish Government plans to upgrade its logistic infrastructure with focus on high speed rail, motorways and container port facilities.
