Brightsight, Dutch cyber security firm, has acquired Catalan startup Bitwise for opening its first abroad office in Sant Cugat, Spain. Brightsight received was fully supported by Catalonia Trade and Investment office ACCIÓ’s area for foreign investment attraction and 40 jobs will be created after this acquisition. Brightsight has been providing companies services in ICT security in fields such as payment system, electronic identification, digital certificates, communication devices and automotive sector.
“As a result of the acquisition of the Bitwise start-up, which gives us highly significant capacity and the initial expertise to be able to continue growing and attracting talent from amongst young professionals in the security field, as well as placing us close to relevant clients that we have in the area”, Xavier Vilarrubla, head of Business Development at Brightsight, said. He added “Barcelona is a very important tech hub in terms of new technologies, such as those connected to smart cities and the automotive industry”.
Founded over thirty years ago, Brightsight is a cyber-security firm based in Delft, Amsterdam and has 150 workers worldwide. Brightsight has also opened a laboratory in Beijing, China recently. Brightsight is the only lab in the world that has been accredited by five Common Criteria Schemes (Germany, Japan, Netherlands, Turkey and Norway) and its major clientele include international financial institutions, government, and IT and automotive industries.
