Australia based Moodle is set to open office in Barcelona, Spain creating 10 new jobs with forecast reaching up to 40 jobs. Barcelona office will also be partly responsible for Moodle’s expansion in Europe and South America.
Moodle’s investment in Barcelona was facilitated by Catalan Government via the offices of ACCIÓ – the agency for business competitiveness and Catalonia Trade & Investment.
According to the founder and CEO of Moodle, Martin Dougiamas:
“We are pleased to announce the opening of a new office in Barcelona, a gateway to Europe, linked to many international capitals and that is gaining a great reputation in the online community and software development”.
Moodle is an educational software company that has a current user base of 180 million people worldwide and the company also boasts esteemed companies and organizations such as Google, the United Nations and the London School of Economics.
Moodle was founded in 2003 in Australia and it has developed an online open source platform that can be customized for companies, universities and organizations. Moodle supports courses on the Internet and it allows communities to be created between students and teachers. It can be accessed from computers, tablets or cell phones.
Moodle is also planning to host MoodleMoot Global in Barcelona in 2019 which is a conference for professionals in the field of edtech and the platform users. Moodle also plans to add this to their Moodle conferences around the world and making this an international event.
Headquartered in Australia, Moodle offers a software package for producing Internet-based courses and Websites. Additionally, Moodle also provides hosting and support services.
