Micheql Reza, vice president of corporate communications of Go-Jek Indonesia, said that Go-Jek would expand to Singapore but however didn’t reveal the details of the expansion.
“This year for sure, but we cannot reveal more details.”
Nadiem Makarim, Go-Jek CEO-cum-founder, also commented on Go-Jek’s expansion in Vietnam and Thailand by establishing two local companies which is also the companies first international expansion into Southeast Asian countries
Nadiem also added that Go-Viet which is a brand introduced in Vietnam has entered into beta testing phase in July that will involve a number of drivers and consumers before fully launching in upcoming months. Also GET which is a brand in Thailand will be launched shortly afterwards.
Go- Jek recently acquired prestigious capital investors, such as Astra International, Warburg Pincus, KKR, Meituan, Tencent, Google, and Temasek and the international expansion is the result of the same.
Go-Jek is planning to invest $ 500 million for international expansion in Southeast Asia. Commenting on expanding its operations in Singapore and the Philippines, Nadiem added:
“Our strategy is to combine world-class technology that has been developed.”
Go-Jek is aiming to venture into ride- hailing and logistics services currently and will venture into food and electronic payment messaging services in the future.
