Senegal based Wari Group is set to acquire Tigo’s business in Senegal from Luxembourg based Millicom for $129Mn.
The transaction is subject to customary closings and regulatory approvals.
Tigo is a telecommunications company that provides mobile telecommunications services in Senegal. It was launched in 1999. Tigo offers pre-paid and post-paid plans; VIP services; and roaming and Internet services. Tigo Senegal operates as a subsidiary of Millicom International Cellular.
Wari provides a platform that offers mobile, web, and card solutions for organizations and customers in Africa and internationally. It offers bill payment, money transfer, prepaid card, and airtime purchase services; and applications for Android, iOS, and Windows devices.
The company was founded in 2008 and is based in Dakar, Senegal with operations worldwide.
