US based medical technology company Boston Scientific is to invest €17m (US$ 21.5 m) launching a new Galway-based R&D facility focused on endoscopy research. Boston Scientific Boston has been operating its European Innovation Centre in Galway for more than 20 years producing more than 3 million devices pear year with more than 3000 employees.
According to SiliconRepublic, “the RoadRunner endoscopy design facility will host more than 300 international physicians every year to promote the development of metal stents for use in the bowel or biliary tract in gastrointestinal treatments”. The investment will be on phase by phase basis until 2020.
