2017 was an interesting year for FDI as the world inclined towards political right, closeness and anti-globalization. The US leadership in particular demonstrated noteworthy inward looking traits, however incoming foreign direct investments in the US showed no sign of abatement.       

In the emerging markets, India saw more sectors open up for FDI and China stepped up its outward FDI movement in conjunction with its One Belt One Road initiative.
