The Spring Love Affair

Dear reader,

The love affair between Asian companies and their push towards investing in the US has not subsided. Our insights include China's Wanhua Chemical's investment in Louisiana, Tencent Holding's purchase of stake in Tesla and Japan's Toyota's investment in Kentucky plant among others.

US companies have reciprocated by further investing in Asia as US based MoneyOnMobile and Warburg Pincus invest in India and private equity firm KKR invests in Vietnam.

In our December 2016 newsletter, we had mentioned that the rise of "inwardness" following Trump's victory is more of a popular rhetoric than actuality. Four months in, analyzing the FDI traction in our portal, US still has the greatest strength in attracting inbound FDI. Consulting firm - AT Kearney's FDI Confidence Index was also released this month that puts US at the helm.
